In this entry I am going to discuss the major holdouts and injuries that could come into play at the begingin of this NFL season.
Peyton Manning: Some growing skepticism has been showing regarding Peyton's recovery from his neck surgery but COME ON! This guy has played every game since his Freshman year at Tennessee! He is the only person remotely close to Favre's consecutive games played record. There is no way that when the Colts say he is out 2-6 more weeks that it will actually be 6 weeks that will potential have him missing opening day. Don't fret Fantasy Owners! Peyton Manning will be there and ready to play opening day!
DeSean Jackson: The most explosive player in the National Football League is drastically underpaid but he is at camp right now which is a good sign. He arrived just before the fines for skipping camp were about to take effect. While I believe that the Eagles should do a far better job at taking care of the players they have before they bring in fresh blood, they do not seem to agree. Jackson is finally back which shuts down any speculations that he is T.O. 2.0 in Philly. He man deserves his money; He knows it, the Eagles know it, and the media knows it. He wants to play and he will opening week.
Frank Gore: Frank Gore's holdout was short lived. It lasted a total of four days and did not gather much media attention. Gore is now stressing how excited he is to play for Harbaugh and looked good taking snaps.
Chris Johnson: CJ2k is in the most threatening (fantasy-wise) position. He is clearly one of the premier rushers in the game and is making less then most teams back up runningbacks. He even gained support of Titan great Eddie George who publicly sided with Johnson and pointed that the Titans promised Johnson a new deal this year. He is already enduring the $30,000 fine each day he misses. The titans are saying a deal will not be discussed until Johnson shows up and Johnson says he won't show up until he is paid. This is the only situation that I can see potentially last into the season but I can't see the titans letting it last into the season but monitor the situation closely when it gets close to draft day.

Steve Smith to the Eagles?
The rich get richer, but what does this do to Steve Smith's Fantasy Stock? Steve Smith was a valuable add the last couple years as he provided a great compliment to Hakeem Nicks for Eli Manning but thats all history now. I expect his fantasy impact to take a dive. He may be a part of a far more potent offense but Vick seems to love passing the ball to Jackson and Maclin and I expect that to continue. Steve Smith will likely be the third option (even if Maclin does play slot). A late add is the only way I would take Smith in your drafts now.

Potential Breakout Players By Positions
Quarterbacks:
Matt Ryan: Already a well known and respected QB in the National Football League, Ryan has potential to erupt this year and be in discussions with the Peyton Mannings and Tom Bradys of the league. I expect his 28 touchdowns which ranked 6th last year to raise because of the addition of Rookie Julio Jones. Jones's talent has been praised by all-time great Tony Gonzalez. I by no means would recommend taking Ryan over Brees, Rodgers, Manning, Brady, Rivers, or Vick, but I believe his name will be discussed with these QBs after this season.
Kevin Kolb: Kolb showed signs of brilliance last year but was removed as a starter when Michael Vick emerged as once again a dominant force in the NFL. Let me start off this entry by telling you not to draft Kevin Kolb as your starting QB. I do not trust him enough to but an entire season on his back and only draft him as my QB but he does have potential to break out. I would spend a later pick on him with the hope that his chemistry with Fitzgerald grows quickly
Matthew Stafford: The former #1 overall pick just can't seem to catch a break. If Stafford can stay healthy, I think he has potential to put up big numbers and make an impact in some fantasy leagues. The Lions are a young team with potential to make a playoff run this year. If healthy Stafford's numbers could be hard to ignore.
Runningbacks:
LeSean McCoy: Although he is not much of an under the radar player any more, McCoy makes my list because I expect him to make the jump into the top 3 RBs in the NFL by the end of the year. Most defense will be focusing of Vick and Jackson while McCoy may be able to take advantage of the lack of respect and join the elite RB club.
Ryan Grant: Give the guy some love! He dropped significantly in the preseason rankings this year. His last two healthy seasons Grant rushed for over 1,200 yards. Throughout last year the critics of the Green Bay Packers complained that they did not have a running game. Well their running game is back and like McCoy, most of the defensive games plans will be to stop Rodgers and not Grant. I look for him to punch in more TDs then expected and rush for over 1,000 yards. Great Later Round Pickup
Marshawn Lynch: It is now or never for Marshawn Lynch. He got his change of scenery and the Seahawks invested their first two draft picks on O-Line help for him. I am aware that the seahawks are not an offensive powerhouse with a new QB coming in but if Lynch ever will live up to his hype coming out of college it will be this year.
Wide Receiver:
DeSean Jackson: Jackson is the most explosive WR in the NFL today and he is paired with the most exciting quarterback. Jackson numbers were superb last year with Vick as his QB and I think he is receiving way too little respect in preseason rankings. He can turn any play into a touchdown and will be a top 5 receiver by the time the season is over.
Dez Bryant: Roy Williams is out and it is now Dez Bryant's time to shine. Bryant used to be the best WR in college football by a considerable amount. The Cowboys are obviously a better team than they performed last year. Bryant could be a nice compliment to Miles Austin in Dallas. He may also get the occasional kick and punt return TD for your team.
Percy Harvin: Harvin did not live up to expectations last year along with the rest of the Vikings but maybe McNabb will help him jump start Harvin's numbers as well as the Viking's offense as a whole. McNabb will need to improve drastically from last year but I do like his surrounding cast better in Minnesota. Rice is now in Seattle and the Vikings will turn to Harvin for big plays.
Anquan Boldin: Boldin is facing intense criticism but he was at one time one of the most feared WR in the National Football League. With the Flacco and Boldin hype subsiding, this could be a great time for Boldins numbers to slip under the radar and for you to find yourself a steal late in your draft.
